Community Exhibition with Quilts

Gallery Exhibition NOW INCLUDES QUILTS

Photographs by the award-winning photographer Lori Waselchuk and quilts by the incarcerated hospice volunteers at Louisiana State Penitentiary not only show a culture of caring a compassion that challenges stereotypes of the incarcerated, but also provide an intimate and personal perspective on what long-term and life sentences signify for those inside.

Waselchuk created the Grace Before Dying traveling exhibition for display in correctional facilities after receiving an Audience Engagement Grant from the Open Society Foundations Documentary Photography Project. The exhibition continues to travel throughout the United States appearing in museums, libraries, hospitals, colleges and community centers.
